This past Wednesday, emo-rock outfit Sleep Outside released their second EP, ‘Lakes In Which To Drown In’. To mark its release, the trio have shared a video for the title track.
It sees the Cardiff/London three-piece demonstrate a compelling, dynamic and powerful slice of emotional alt-rock that embodies Sleep Outside‘s strengths.
“As soon as we wrote this, we knew it had to close out the EP, covering pretty much every influence we touch on throughout the rest of the record with a bang,” says Sleep Outside vocalist and guitarist Adam Holborn. He goes on to explain how the track is a deeply personal one, due to his issues with body dysmorphia.
“Lyrically, this song was a tough one for me as it touches on some things that I’ve never talked about before and I was terrified for anybody to really figure it out for a long time. The song is about struggling with your identity and figuring out where exactly you fit within the world and the closer personal relationships you have on a daily basis. It’s about a life-time of body dysmorphia and how this can set off a domino effect for all other anxieties to follow. It’s probably the most honest I have ever been with anyone about how I feel and I really hope that anyone can find some peace with themselves because of it.”
