This past November, emerging UK rockers unpeople joined Sharptone Records, They’ve now shared details of their self-titled EP. ‘unpeople’ will be released on April 19th.

The alt-rock quartet have also dropped its opening track. ‘waste’ is a social-politically conscious number, with the band describing it as “a ‘government bad’ song in THE most apathetic way possible.” The bombastic number thrives with distorted riffs, gang vocals, and guitarist Luke Caley and bassist Meg Mash backing Jake Crawford with strong harmonies.  Whereas Richard Rayner’s pounding drum work leans into the track’s anti-authority, punk tone.

Expanding on the meaning behind ‘waste’unpeople said the track was about “feeling completely helpless while watching public services being decimated with zero signs of remorse or self-awareness from those in positions of power. There is an element of Brexit-inspired self-inflicted wounds. People lapping up what was essentially propaganda and then complaining when they got what they voted for.”

‘unpeople’ EP will also include the previously released ‘Smother’.
