Up-and-coming emo trio Aren’t We Amphibians have released they will release their debut album next month. Titled ‘Parade! Parade!’, it sees the San Diego three-piece showcase a vibrant brand of emo with comparisons to Origami Angel, early Fall Out Boy, and Free Throw.
Consisting of lifelong friends, vocalist Joshua Talbot, bassist Tyler Cunningham, and drummer Brandon Cunningham, Aren’t We Amphibians have also shared the album’s first single. ‘Dunce Hat’ thrives with urgency as Talbot wrestles with feeling left behind and rising above. It sets the optimistic tone that is threaded throughout ‘Parade! Parade!’, although there are hints of introspection.
Whizzing through at a frantic pace, ‘Dunce Hat’s video captures the trio performing in a high school to bored students. However, with their twisting guitars and soaring melodies, AWA wake them from their slumber. Or is it just the band being in a collective daydream? Judge for yourself below.
Having come together in 2022, Aren’t We Amphibians‘ discography includes two EPs, a split EP with Just Let Me Go, and a four-way split with awakebutstillinbed, California Cousins, and your arms are my cocoon.
