Up-and-coming Austin, Texas four-piece Die Spitz are preparing to release their debut album, ‘Something to Consume,’ next month via Third Man Records. Although their sound overlaps between punk, grunge, alt. rock and metal, they also have a soft spot for another genre. ‘Pop Punk Anthem (Sorry For The Delay)’ is described by Ava Schrobilgen as “a fun song to pay homage to the great early 2000’s pop punk legends”.
However, if you dig a little deeper, it’s a hazy blast of grunge punk that ruminates on being obsessed with someone, even when that person does not reciprocate the feelings.
‘Something to Consume’ was produced by Will Yip and sees the emerging quartet explore a wide palette of sounds and themes. From the thrash-laden ‘Throw Yourself to the Sword’ and its empowerment lyricism to American globalism (‘Voir Dire’), and frustrating relationships, they do it with a rallying cry.

‘Pop Punk Anthem (Sorry For The Delay)’ Lyrics
Past tense goes slipping from my mind
Don’t worry, there’s nothing here for me this time
It’s different, the way she looked me in the eyes
Don’t judge me, I need her to survive
How you feeling?
Such a stupid thing to say
I’ve got this obsession
That I haven’t seen since yesterday
And now my visions clear
Sorry for the delay
I’ll never disappear
Cause you’re a part of me
Now how’s it feel?
That you left me alone, we’ll never know
And have you seen
This honesty I’ve shown
We’ll never, we’ll never know
We’ll never know
All this tension
Everybody here can see
And did I mention
I need you to take care of me
And now my visions clear
Sorry for the delay
I’ll never disappear
Cause you’re a part of me
And now my visions clear
Sorry for the delay
I’ll never disappear
Cause you’re a part of me
And now my visions clear
Sorry for the delay
I’ll never disappear
Cause you’re a part of me
And now my visions clear
Sorry for the delay
I’ll never disappear
Cause you’re a part of me
You’re a part of me
You’re a part of me
