Between the Buried and Me Announce New Album

Forward-thinking prog metalcore band Between the Buried and Me have revealed details of their new album. ‘The Blue Nowhere’ will be released on September 12th via InsideOutMusic, their first release for the label.

It’ll be the quartet’s 11th album, following 2021’s ‘Colors II’ and sees the band work with longtime collaborator Jamie King. BTBAM vocalist Tommy Roger states the record “exists in a world that’s not tied to a storyline. It’s more about a feeling, where the songs live for me.”

Furthermore, ‘The Blue Nowhere’ is described as BTBAM‘s “most immersive and eclectic” record to date, including extensive string and horn sections. As a taster, the album’s first single, ‘Things We Tell Ourselves In The Dark,’ has been released.

The lengthy number twists and turns with jagged riffs and Dan Briggs’ funky bassline. “This track emerged from the maniac genius of Dan Briggs,” Rogers shares. “The song deals with the dark cloud that is ego, so I tried to vocally approach it with a different kind of confidence than normal, almost like a pop song… even though it takes you down crazy avenues, you can sit back and sing along.”

Briggs commented on how, despite its dynamism, it’s melodically rooted. “It’s one of the rare songs I started around the bass and that foundational funky idea, while also maintaining a pretty straightforward melodic idea underneath everything, no matter how dense it got rhythmically,” says BTBAM‘s bassist and keyboardist. “I love when we have arrangements that feel like they have a page turn into another dimension, but I thought it was important for this one to feel really seamless as it moved dynamically.”

Its video includes infinite hotel corridors and a strange space sequence, adding a surreal visual.

They will precede the release of ‘The Blue Nowhere’ with two sets at ArcTanGent in August. The first on Friday, August 15th will see them perform their 2007 record, ‘Colors’ in full. On the following day, they will be performing on the main stage alongside Rolo Tomassi, Clown Core, and TesseracT.
