Gnarly Californian hardcore punks Drain have shared details of their new album. It’s called ‘…Is Your Friend’ and will be released through Epitaph Records on November 7th.
The Santa Cruz band’s third album promises to capitalise on the trio’s rowdy live reputation. Recorded live with producer Jon Markson (The Story So Far, Drug Church, One Step Closer), its ten tracks are geared up to deliver Drain‘s heaviest and catchiest record to date.
The album’s lead single, ‘Nights Like These,’ serves as a tasty preview. Thriving with a raw, hardcore energy, it allows vocalist Sammy Ciaramitaro to show his gratitude for being where he is. “Over the last decade of doing DRAIN, I’ve been able to see the world, meet incredible people, experience all sorts of incredible highs and even a couple of lows – but most importantly, I got to do all of those things with my best friends,” shares Drain‘s frontman. “No matter how much we accomplish and how big we grow, we are still just a couple of friends who get to play music together, make memories all over the world, and we are SO aware of how lucky we are to do it. THAT is what “Nights Like These” is about.”
The track’s video features the band showcasing their present-day live chaos, then fast-forwards to 2055. Here, they’re still as rowdy as ever, just older. Although the band could have donned prosthetics and make-up to age themselves, Ciaramitaro decided to use his dad. “I am going to look just like my dad when I get old – I should just use him,” says Sammy on the making of the video. It ends with his 61-year-old dad doing his first-ever stagedive.
“The fact that we got to share this special night with the people who shaped us to be the men we are today – means SO much to all of us. I hope that everyone enjoys watching it as much as we all enjoyed getting to make it happen. Shout out to Stu, Frankie, and Donny!”
