Last weekend Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl fell off a stage in Gothenburg, Sweden. However despite finishing off the show, Grohl has sustained injuries that have now lead the band to cancel their forthcoming UK and European shows.

In a statement from the band, doctors have requested the band cancel the shows so Grohl can recuperate. Grohl underwent surgery yesterday (Monday) and a full recuperation time is still to be determined.

The full list of cancelled dates are:

June
19 & 20 Wembley Stadium, London
23 BT Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh
25 Festivalpark Werchter, Werchter, Belgium
26 Glastonbury Festival 2015

UPDATE: Dave Grohl has posted an open letter detailing the incident and his injuries. Grohl dropped 12 feet, dislocated his ankle and snapped his fibula. He flew back to London to have surgery and is now recovering with 6 metal screws in his leg. The full letter can be read here.

“It kills me to say it…..the doctors have told us to cancel shows. I’m really so sorry, guys. You know I hate to do it, but I’m afraid it’s just not physically possible for me at the moment. We’re doing our best right now to work out a plan, so bear with us. You know we’re good for our word. But for now, I need to make sure we have YEARS of gigs ahead of us….”
