Brighton emo-punk duo H_ngm_n has revealed plans to release their debut album next month. Titled ‘Paper Street,’ the record will be released through Sugar-Free Records on October 17th.
Its ten tracks see Chris Childs and James Martin wrestle with who they are and what they want to become, as they unpick growing older and how unfulfilled dreams lead to frustration. As previous singles, ‘Reach Out’, ‘Spotlight’, ‘No Place Like Home’ and ‘Nothing Personal’ showed, H_ngm_n‘s bittersweet truths are wrapped around energetic, hook-laden songs.
The final single ahead of the album’s release, ‘Ghosts’, offers a glimpse of optimism in a world of uncertainties. The track is a sequel to the band’s 2018 track, ‘Ghost’. The mix of Martin’s solid rhythm section with Childs’ swirling guitars and hopeful but anthemic words makes for an encouraging finale to ‘Paper Street’.
