Leeds-based newcomers Hidden Youth have shared their debut single – ‘Vignette’. With influences coming from Texas Is the Reason, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Jawbreaker, it sees the Yorkshire quintet display a rousing blend of melodic punk rock and emo.

Led by Jake Poll’s soaring vocals, guitarist Niall Wright backs him up in the chorus, resulting in a raw, driving hook. Hidden Youth‘s musical charge is completed by lead guitarist Jonathan Kirk, bassist Carl Glover, and drummer Corey Moore. It results in an effective and promising sound that wears its influences proudly.

The release of ‘Vignette’ comes as Hidden Youth are set to play their first show this Wednesday at Boom in Leeds. They will be opening for New England hardcore group, Loveletter (Defeater and Verse), alongside HeavyHex and Without Love. It’ll be followed up by a handful of stand-alone shows.

Collectively, the members of Hidden Youth have played in other bands previously. For example, Jake Poll played bass for Nai Harvest. While some of the other members were part of D-Rail and Beecher (Niall Wright), Track and Field (Jonathan Kirk), and Eighty Six (Carl Glover).
