After teasing their fourth album last month with ‘Whisper of a Dream,’ Holding Absence have now revealed full details of their new record. ‘Modern Life Is Lonely’ will arrive on August 28th through the band’s new label home, Sumerian Records.
The news of the album is joined by the release of a track called ‘Reflection’. Utilising electronic elements, the deeply introspective number is reminiscent of ‘Meteora’-era Linkin Park. The track sees Lucas Woodland confront feelings of self-destruction and to learn to heal and accept themselves again. Ultimately, ‘Reflection’ plays into ‘Modern Life Is Lonely’s narrative that explores loneliness, trauma, mortality and the search for meaning. The album’s overall aim is to deliver an account of grief, love, identity and emotional survival in an overstimulated world.
“We are ecstatic to release our new single, ‘Reflection’, taken from our upcoming album ‘Modern Life Is Lonely’. This album is our boldest and most creative body of work to date, so we can’t wait for you to hear the whole thing in August! In the meantime, we hope you enjoy Reflection,” shared Woodland.
