Hot Mulligan Release Raw Track ‘Island in the Sun’

The release of Hot Mulligan‘s new album, ‘The Sound A Body Makes When It’s Still’, is fast approaching. However, ahead of its August 22nd release, they’ve dropped another track from it. ‘Island in the Sun’ is a sharp, self-aware track that features Cory Castro of Free Throw lending his vocals.

With themes of self-destruction and the cyclical nature of using alcohol to cope with regret, it paints a raw picture, clouded by Hot Mulligan‘s emo-punk grit.

The release of ‘The Sound A Body Makes When It’s Still’ on August 22nd (via Wax Bodega) will be followed by UK and Irish dates supporting Pierce The Veil.

‘Island in the Sun’ Lyrics

I can’t move if I can’t look straight ahead
If I make it to the kitchen I can act like an asshole in front of my friends
Just go to bed
Staring at the ceiling while it’s spinning so I choke on my throw up and rest

I can’t recall how awful I’ve been
Well then why should I care at all

Talk in circles
Didn’t hear a word you said
I’ll find my jacket
One more shot straight to the head

Wake up on the carpet with a nosebleed
A flooded bathroom and the tune I’m singing
(I’m so sorry)
Chasing the only way I learned to cope with mistakes
Drinking more for each new one I’ve made

The bottle goes empty again
If I stop I’ll remember this all

Talk in circles
Didn’t hear a word you said
I’ll find my jacket
One more shot straight to the head
I feel disgusting
Something’s off
Fallen out of place
I want to want nothing
To forget what I need to change

Keep it inside
Stay up all night

Can’t get better if I can’t remember anything
Why acknowledge what a terrible thing I’ve been
