Genre-crossing alternative group, Magnolia Park, has confirmed details of their third album. ‘VAMP’ is described as “a neo-gothic concept album rich in world-building and gripping storytelling”. Fans can hear from the record on April 11th via Epitaph.
Having evolved from their pop-punk origins, the Florida group continue to show their ambition. ‘VAMP’ certainly seems evident of that. Its storyline is an ominous journey through Nocturne Nexus where rulers and rebels battle with the future hanging in the balance.
As new single, ‘CULT’ shows, Magnolia Park embraces a heavier sound. Bordering on a mix of nu-metal and industrial, ‘CULT’ is a dense blast of detuned guitars, sinister vocals and whirling electronics. Lyrically, the band shared the song is “about gaining back your power from an oppressor, made to inspire people to stick up for what is right and not let themselves be taken advantage of.”
As for where the track fits into ‘VAMP’s narrative, the band added; “This reflects in our story where Aurora and the Vampires have to stand up to a towering oppressive group called the ‘Shadow Cult’.”
Alongside ‘CULT’, VAMP’ will also include last summer’s ‘Shallow’ single.
