After spending almost a decade together, Atlanta, GA emo/indie-punk trio Michael Cera Palin has announced plans to release their debut album. It’s called ‘We Could Be Brave’ and will be released in the through Big Scary Monsters (UK). Brain Synthesizer will be handling the US release. The record is set for release on March 7th.

The announcement is accompanied by a new track, ‘Wisteria’. Considered by Michael Cera Palin vocalist/guitarist Elliott Brabant. as his “first proper breakup song”, the song exemplifies the three-piece’s brand of raw and explosive emo-punk. It’s balanced out a tale of heartbreak and toiling mental illness.

Reflecting on the song, Brabant commented it’s a song about having “No personal scores to settle, but rather a big emotional mess to parse and ultimately reconcile. Romantic love can be difficult to accept in the throes of mental illness, and watching someone you love worry themselves sick over you can create its own vicious cycle. This song is about how thankful I am for the love that I’ve held, the struggle I’ve faced in trying (often failing) to express that, and the pain of realizing that my path forward needed to be found on my own.”

The upcoming release ‘We Could Be Brave’ marks a tumultuous 10 years for Michael Cera Palin. Formed in 2015, they released two EPs before going on hiatus in 2018. While since regrouping in 2020, they’ve been carving out a growing fanbase on both sides of the Atlantic.

Frontman Elliott Brabant shared ‘We Could Be Brave’ came together over three years, and will see the light of day this spring. “We Could Be Brave is the first full-length album I or Jon (Williams – bass player) have ever written, and we couldn’t be more proud. When we reunited in 2019/2020, we had no way of knowing what rugs would be pulled from beneath us, so we took our time to bring out our best selves through these songs.” shared Brabant. “Written in 2022, recorded in 2023, mixed and mastered in 2024; I’m glad to have not rushed the lyrics, how vulnerable I get regarding specific struggles without any song feeling myopic.”

The release of We Could Be Brave’ will be followed up with a UK and Ireland headline tour, beginning in late April.
