#NewMusicFriday: April 17th 2026

NewMusicFriday 17th April

With festival season creeping up, #NewMusicFriday once again offers a handful of noteworthy releases. This week’s list is led by the return of reggae-metal masters Skindred, who deliver their ninth album, ‘You Got This’. It sees the Welsh group keep the momentum of 2023’s ‘Smile,’ with a handful of surefire future live favourites throughout.

Prince Daddy & The Hyena‘s fourth full-length, ‘Hotwire Trip Switch,’ sees the New Yorkers deliver a sugar rush of power-pop hooks, paired with their assured emo and pop-punk sound. It’s an infectious collection that grows with each listen. Wage War sinks into their Floridian swamp roots on their new EP, ‘It Calls Me By Name’. The savage five-track collection proves to be a dense listen with wiry, distorted riffs aplenty.

Meanwhile, ‘Nude descending staircase headless’ sees Teen Suicide evolve from their lo-fi origins, producing a tighter album that allows the husband-and-wife duo to deliver a textured sound. Throughout, Sam and Kitty Ray are emotionally open, maintaining the rawness of their earlier work. Canadian singer LØLØ returns with her second album. On ‘god forbid a girl spits out her feelings!’, she dives deep into her diary, showing her vulnerable side through a set of lightweight pop-rock songs.

When it comes to “underground names,” you can check out new releases from Pennsylvania rock quartet Don’t Panic and Irish alt-rockers The Last Vinci. The former releases ‘For Your Consideration.’ It’s an album that is dominated by anthemic, heartfelt punk rock that finds a balance between youthful nostalgia and adult self-reflection. As for ’15 Minutes At a Time’ by The Last Vinci, the Cork-based group returns with a record rooted in resilience and gratitude. It sees frontman Alex Vinci reflect on a transformative journey after being diagnosed with a chronic illness. While lyrically introspective, the trio maintain their ability to blast out thrilling riffs.

Elsewhere, Nine Inch Nails and Boys Noize come together on the self-titled Nine Inch Noize record. Powerful alt-metallers From Ashes to New return with ‘Reflections’. Stirring emo rockers, Our Nameless Boy give their ‘Thorns’ EP a full release, after being a Bandcamp exclusive last week. And if you want some Saturday morning cartoon-inspired power metal, then check out Victorius‘World War Dinosaur.’

Furthermore, tomorrow (April 28th) is Record Store Day 2026. There will be a whole load of limited edition vinyl releases. Some of the names who are getting in on RSD action are Bring Me The HorizonWeezerSleep TokenMuseFall Out Boy, Paramore, Deafhaven, and more.
