Emerging shoegaze alt-rockers Oversize are preparing to release their debut album, ‘Vital Sign’, next month via Sharptone Records. Today, the British quintet shared a track called ‘Vacant’ from the record.

Combining gritty guitars, punctuating percussion, and Sam McCauley’s hazy vocals, ‘Vacant’ is a compelling and swirling example of what could be a promising record.

If you’ve caught Oversize live in recent months, you might be familiar with the track, having become one of the band’s favourite tracks to play. “‘Vacant’ is one of the few album tracks that made its way into our live set pre-release, It’s one of our favourite songs to play live and we’re really stoked to release it as the last single before our album comes out,” Oversize shared. “Lyrically the song focuses around a lack of connection and communication with the people around you, how easy it is to get complacent and not check in with someone, or open up with how you’re really feeling.”

Formed through a mutual appreciation of 90’s shoegaze, emo, indie, and Britpop, Oversize has gradually been building momentum in recent years. They inked a deal with Sharptone last year, and ended the year with the announcement of ‘Vital Sign’.

In recent years, they’ve played alongside Militarie GunHigher PowerFiddleheadBoston Manor, and Puppy alongside appearances at Outbreak and Burn It Down.

Having previously been announced for the 2000trees Festival this summer, Oversize will be playing a handful of headline dates in March.

‘Vital Sign’ is released on March 28th. Fans can pre-order/pre-save the record here.
