Employed To Serve Drop New Single ‘Dead Reckoning’

UK metallic hardcore outfit Employed To Serve are back with new single ‘Dead Reckoning’, out now via Church Road Records.

It kicks off a new chapter for the band, yet retains the intensity of past releases. Guitarist/vocalist Sammy Urwin says the track “exploded into existence, rather than having been carefully crafted”.

As a band that often looks to find the positive, Justine Jones highlights the band’s perseverance, screaming “against all odds, I find my way”. On the ‘Dead Reckoning’s lyrics, Jones states the track “definitely taps more into our darker side and serves as a conduit to blow off steam. We hope the listeners get the same release from the track that we do.”

Employed To Serve will be playing several European dates in the coming months. It includes an appearance at the Radar Festival on August 2nd.

RØRY Detail Second Album ‘Bloodletting’

Having achieved a UK top 10 album last year with ‘Restoration,’ RØRY will release its follow-up this September. It’s called ‘Bloodletting’, and will be released September 4th via Sadcøre Records.

The 13-track record features past singles, ‘DEGRADATION’,DEAD GIRL WALKING’ and ‘KIDS THESE DAYS,’ alongside new single ‘Strange’.

The album promises to see RØRY go into heavier territory, while retaining her lyrically raw honesty. Produced with longtime collaborators Kingdom, with additional production and mixing from Dan Lancaster (Bring Me The Horizon, Muse), ‘Bloodletting’ is described as being RØRY‘s “most ambitious and most expansive” music to date.

“I realised I was sick from being nice. I’d spent so much of my life being the bigger person, forgiving people, understanding people, making excuses for people. I’d become disconnected from huge parts of myself. BLOODLETTING was about reclaiming them,” she says.

Reclus.É Announce Debut Singles

New project Reclus.É have introduced themselves with two debut tracks, signing to Rise/BMG in the process. The band brings together BBC Radio 1 Rock Show presenter Daniel P. Carter and Soren Bryce of Tummyache. Their debut single ‘A Muted TV’ is backed by a cover of Portishead‘s ‘Roads’.

Drawing on a wide range of influences such as The Cure, Fugazi, Stone Roses, Bad Brains and The Sound, Reclus.É‘s sound is equally explosive as it is cathartic and cinematic. ‘A Muted TV’ is described as “an examination of technology and wealth’s influence on self-image and social psyche”. A debut album is in the works.

The duo will support A Perfect Circle in London this week, and are set to appear at both Outbreak and 2000Trees festivals.

Tokyo Taboo Unveil New Single ‘WINGS’

Emerging London-based quartet Tokyo Taboo have released ‘WINGS’, taken from their yet-to-be-announced debut album.

Born from a place of negativity, the track is about rising above awful behaviour from people in authority. For frontwoman Dolly Daggerz, ‘WINGS’ is about transforming into a stronger person.

“Smear campaigns ultimately backfire when you don’t respond to the bullies and instead go deeper into the truth of who you are. You can use their hate as fuel and rise so high above it that no-one can say anything that bothers you anymore,” says Dolly Daggerz. “Words just ricochet because you sit comfortably in your own truth. There’s real strength in knowing who you are and becoming unbothered by those who are continually intent on misunderstanding you.”

De Staat Return With Self-Titled Album & ‘The Fire’

Dutch art-rock outfit De Staat have announced their seventh album. The self-titled effort will be released on September 18th via V2 Records. It is previewed by the new single ‘The Fire’.

‘De Staat’ (The State) follows a two-year hiatus, and looks to continue commonplace themes of power, manipulation, misinformation and autocracy. “As a band, we’ve long explored ideas around power, faith, and the increasingly blurred line between reality and fiction,” says frontman Torre Florim. “The world we’re living in has pulled us further down that dark path, and suddenly it feels as though the name we chose 25 years ago has taken on a whole new weight – as if everything we’ve made has been unconsciously building towards this moment. That’s why our seventh album is called DE STAAT.”

‘The Fire’ proves to be a rigged preview with its industrial grooves as Florim aims his words at modern consumer detachment. “‘THE FIRE’ is about the comfortable assumption that the world’s disasters will stay safely on the other side of the screen. We hang in that quiet space between knowing and acting – and from this side, it’s easy to mistake one for the other.”

De Staat will follow up the release of the album with a tour of the UK and Ireland in November.

Future Palace Reveals New Album Plans (‘Resurgence’)

Berlin trio Future Palace have announced their fourth album. ‘Resurgence’ is set to be released on July 31st via Century Media Records. The record is previewed by a track called ‘Resurge’.

Consisting of 12 tracks, it will offer a blend of soaring metalcore with cinematic electronics and crushing breakdowns. It’s paired up with themes of depression, doubt, and emotional transformation.

As for their new single, ‘Resurge,’ it highlights Future Palace‘s earworm hooks with Maria Lessing’s acrobatic vocals at the forefront. “Musically, ‘Resurge’ felt very nu metal right from the start when writing it,” says guitarist Manuel Kohlert. “So you can call it another experiment since we didn’t do that kind of music yet. Side-note: When writing the instrumental, I had a Japanese video game in mind, which I really liked as a kid; the soundtrack was also phenomenal. It is called ‘Solatorobo’.”

On the track’s lyrical content, Lessing shared, “This song is about doubting everything and every decision you’ve made so far in your life. Thinking about what it would be like if you would completely restart and be a totally different person — but also sacrifice everything and everyone you have in your life currently. It’s supposed to convey deep despair and self-doubt. What would life be like, if you were reborn today?”
