Berlin’s Pelagic Records has announced two founding members of acclaimed post-rock instrumentalists, This Will Destroy You, have reunited for a new project called you, infinite. It sees TWDY guitarist Jeremy Galindo collaborate with former bassist/keyboardist Raymond Brown.
A self-titled album will be released through the label on February 28th.
you, infinite is the culmination of ideas shared between Galindo and Brown digitally between Los Angeles and Austin, Texas over a three-year period. ‘you, infinite’ was recorded this past summer with Andrew Hernandez. While current This Will Destroy You members, Johnnie McBryde, Ethan Billips and Nicholas Huft, joined Galindo and Brown in the studio.
The duo have shared a preview of the album in the form of ‘Throughlines’. The pensive track exemplifies the electronic-tinged post-rock that ‘you, infinite’ promises to be. Its steady compelling build is supplemented by a cinematic tone that grows during its final moments.
Although on the surface it certainly has a sense of familiarity, especially when put up against This Will Destroy You. However, you can’t help but feel the creative reconnection between Jeremy and Raymond having not worked together for over 15 years.
Jeremy Galindo and Raymond Brown formed This Will Destroy You with guitarist Christopher Royal King and former drummer Andrew Miller in 2003. Brown would depart the band shortly after the release of their 2008 self-titled debut album to focus on his medical career.
This Will Destroy You will mark their 20th anniversary with a UK tour in March 2025. It will see them perform ‘This Will Destroy You’ in full. They’ll be joined by Nordic Giants as support.
