Mayday Parade Detail Final Part of 3-Album Trilogy

On July 24th, Mayday Parade will release ‘Sugar’. It is the final album in a trilogy of records that began with ‘Sweet’, and followed with ‘Sad’.

‘Sugar’‘s 10 tracks will see the pop-rock quintet balance themes of nostalgia, reflection and forward momentum.

“When we began working on ‘Sugar’ – part three of a three album release – I started to get concerned that we had overextended ourselves. That the good ideas had run dry and needed more time to replenish,” shares lead vocalist Derek Sanders.

The announcement is joined by the release of ‘Weekend Music’. Bristling with emotion and Mayday Parade‘s familiar melodic craftsmanship, it’s a track that Sanders says has the “catchiness and complexity” he was looking for. “It feels good to be able to create a song that we’re proud of so deep into our career,” he adds.

Lake Malice Announce Debut Album (‘I Wanna Know If It’s Real’)

Genre-blurring alt-metallers Lake Malice have set a release date of September 11th for their long-awaited debut album, ‘I Wanna Know If It’s Real’.

It promises to see the Brighton-based duo explore raw themes such as social media addiction, AI anxiety, nostalgia, trauma, identity, success and the increasingly blurred line between authenticity and performance in modern culture.

Commenting on the album, vocalist Alice Guala says, “This isn’t an anti-AI statement or an anti-technology one. Rather, it explores our deepest fears in the face of radical change, and it questions whether any of the values we deemed important will last through this change.”

The announcement is accompanied by the release of ‘Ghost In A Hell’. Serving as an example of their genre-fusing mix of crushing metal and hyperpop, it shines through its soaring melodies and guitarist Blake Cornwall’s heavy breakdown.

Brian Fallon Details New Solo Album

Having returned last month with two singles, ‘Not Bad for New Jersey’ and ‘Better Before’, Brian Fallon has confirmed he will be releasing a new album. ‘Not Bad For New Jersey’ will arrive via his own Lesser Known Records at all DSPs and streaming services on Thursday, September 10th, with physical release the next day (Friday, September 11th).

“From the beginning I knew I had to fully lean into the passion and lunacy of all these songs I felt inspired by – there wasn’t much room for subtlety,” says Fallon. “There was so much childlike joy in writing and recording all these songs. The whole album came together so naturally, with a level of creative fulfillment I hadn’t experienced in a very long time.”

He’s also premiered a triumphant track called ‘Pearls’, with the album set to feature guest spots from the likes of The Killers‘ Brandon Flowers, Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen, avant-garde guitar legend Marc Ribot, and Grammy Award-winning country luminary Lori McKenna.

Cancer Bats Previews New Album with ‘Long Tooth’

Canadian hardcore mob Cancer Bats are gearing up for the release of their eighth album, ‘Give Me Dirt’. Ahead of its August 7th release, they’ve shared a track called ‘Long Tooth’.

The rampant track features vocals from queer indie folk singer-songwriter Brooklyn Doran, and sees lead vocalist Liam Cormier reflect on the realisation of being at the “halfway point” of his life. “Like many people, I’ve spent years trying to fix certain parts of myself. Lately, I’ve found myself wondering whether those things really need fixing at all. They’ve carried me this far and have helped shape who I am,” shares Cormier. “At some point, self-improvement gives way to self-acceptance, and the chorus embraces the idea that maybe it’s okay to just carry on.”

Cancer Bats will be touring the UK in October as they headline the Marshall “Made of Loud” Tour with Ignite and Knives.

New A-tota-so Album Confirmed (‘I Told You So’)

After releasing a couple of singles in recent months, UK noisy alt-rockers A-tota-so have shared details of their new album. ‘I Told You So’ will be released through bUTTONpUSHER on September 4th.

“We’re really excited to release this album and let you all hear the new music we’ve been working on as we enter the next chapter of this silly little band,” the band shared, announcing the album.

Lyrically, the album will wrestle with themes such as anxiety, depression, grief, and the suffocating weight of the modern world. For guitarist Marty Toner, the record sees him stepping up as lead vocalist. “I really enjoyed taking on the vocal duties this time round and it’s been really exciting figuring out my own voice for the first time since my teenage years in early bands,” he explains, before commenting on ‘I Told You So’‘s narrative.

“Lyrically its a pretty miserable album at times dealing with anxiety, depression and the state of the world we’re living in but there is definitely a message of hope conveyed in there that things can and will get better if we just stay strong. Hopefully people will enjoy the direction we’ve headed and find something in here to enjoy without us completely abandoning our roots altogether theres still plenty going on in there for the die hards.”

They have also released a remix of recent single, and album opening track, ‘Death Rattle’.

French Pop-Punks mirabelle. Share New Single (‘Losers’)

Parisian heavy pop-punk band mirabelle. have debuted the title track from their forthcoming EP, ‘Losers’.

Set for release in the Autumn, the track highlights the French quartet’s energetic and chaotic sound. Although rooted in pop-punk, it sees them add cheerleader-style gang vocals, hip-hop vinyl scratches, and an unpredictable genre-blending breakdown.

Wayside Joins Memory Music and Shares New Single

Melbourne, Australia trio Wayside have joined Will Yip’s Memory Music label. The news also sees the band share a single called ‘Invisible Strings’, which Yip produced.

Since forming, Wayside have developed a sound that blurs between shoegaze, dream-pop, and post-hardcore. ‘Invisible Strings’ demonstrates this, as the three-piece utilise crushing heaviness with airy, emotionally-raw songwriting.

“Joining Memory is a dream come true for us,” vocalist Thomas Davenport says of the signing. “It feels like our music finally has the right home… it feels like family.”

Wayside will be appearing at Download Festival this weekend, before shows in Huddersfield and London.
