Citizen Share Title Track From New Album
As they prepare to release ‘Halcyon Blues’ on August 7th through Run For Covers, Citizen have shared its title track.
The moving number highlights Citizen‘s laid-back style, with Mat Kerekes’ distinct vocals and luscious guitars doing most of the heavy lifting.
On the track, Kerekes shared: “It’s about a silent disconnect between two people. You both know you’re no longer meant to be in each other’s lives but instead of accepting it, you sit in the space between and watch one another become strangers in real time.”
‘Halcyon Blues’ was announced in late April alongside ‘Highs and Lows’.
Citizen return to the UK in October for a headline tour, with support from Modern Color and thistle.

Wealthy Women Preview Debut Album with ‘Men of the West’
San Francisco three-piece Wealthy Women have shared the second single from their forthcoming debut album. Where previous tracks ’37 Days’ and ‘Take It Back’ fixed their gaze on the present, ‘Men of the West’ turns to history.
Built on a thick noise rock foundation, the track draws on past conflicts to explore themes of terror, courage, and claustrophobia.
“The war in Ukraine was never far from our thoughts during the writing process. With ‘Men of the West’ I wanted to explore themes that are common in war throughout history, but it felt inauthentic to try to place myself in the context of a modern, high-tech conflict. Instead, I turned to the past, where those same themes of terror, courage and claustrophobia are heightened by the reality of an inescapable situation,” Wealthy Women shared. “Musically, it makes with metal tropes, from the grinding opening to the sing-song refrain bellowed over almost unreasonably busy riffage. The song builds to its conclusion with a dramatic switch to half time – a crowd favourite moment at live shows – as the protagonist gathers his men for their final stand.”
‘Children’ is released on August 7th.
Carsick Return with ‘Social Smoker’
Salisbury quartet Carsick are back with their first new material of the year. ‘Social Smoker’ follows last year’s ‘Tough Luck’ EP and leans into the band’s indie rock side, drawing comparisons to early Arctic Monkeys in its reflective post-party comedown.
“‘Social Smoker’ is a love song. It’s about spending your Saturday nights with somebody who has contagious positive energy and having a good time no matter where you find yourselves,” explains vocalist Joe Richardson.
Carsick have a run of shows throughout the summer, including the following UK dates:
June
6th Kingstone Festival, Somerset
July
4th Weekend Rumble, Usk
11th 2000 Trees Festival, Cheltenham
24th Trowbridge Festival, Trowbridge
