Iron Maiden’s Nicko McBrain Set to Release Autobiography (‘Hello Boys And Girls!’)

Iron Maiden‘s long-serving drummer, Nicko McBrain, has announced he will be releasing his autobiography later this year.

‘Hello Boys And Girls!’ will be published in hardback, ebook, and audio on October 22nd. The book promises to be packed with unforgettable moments, backstage stories, laugh-out-loud anecdotes, and raw honesty.

“I’m very excited and honoured to be working with the wonderful HarperNonFiction team on my very own book full of lots of fun stories, anecdotes and of course my incredible experiences with some of the greatest musicians and performers from the 70s, 80s and beyond,” shares McBrain in a press release. “I am blessed to be able to finally share my path to where I am today, in my own words, with the world.”

Wealthy Women Confirm Topical Debut Album (‘Children’)

Emerging noise rock metallers Wealthy Women will be releasing their debut album this summer. It’s called ‘Children’ and will be released on August 7th.

The Bay Area-based band writes from an outsider’s perspective. Don Doblados (bass) is the son of Filipino immigrants, Peter Sisk (guitar/vocals) relocated from Ireland in 2017, and drummer Andrew Harms hails from Kansas. The eight tracks that make up ‘Children’ see chief songwriter Sisk reflect on the rising tide of despair that the world has seen in recent years.

US President Donald Trump’s re-election in 2024 served as the catalyst for the album, which covers themes of toxic masculinity, the “manosphere”, the human cost of cruel immigration policy, and the casual inhumanity of modern war. Throughout, it promises to balance outrage and grief.

“We’ve been working towards this for quite a while; the album was written and recorded during 2025 and the themes of that year definitely form a huge part of it. Since then the band has been focused on touring and we’ve been really enthused by the reaction to the songs live. We’re excited to share them with a wider audience,” the band says. “The themes of the album feel just as present in 2026 as they did last year, dealing as it does with war, the death of innocents and the assault on democracy.”

The announcement also sees Wealthy Women share the album’s opening track, ’37 Days’. The track tells the story of Asaad al-Nasasra, a Palestinian Red Crescent paramedic detained by Israeli forces on March 23rd, 2025, after an attack killed eight of his colleagues. He was held for 37 days, and barred from legal counsel. The attack on the clearly marked ambulances was later admitted by the Israeli military following international outcry.

“It’s difficult to make sense of the suffering caused by the ongoing war in Gaza on a personal level. Some stories of that conflict have become touchpoints which cut through the noise in a way that forces a distant Western observer to put themselves in the place of another person, rather than attempt to grapple with statistics,” commented the band. “The story of Hind Rajab is the stuff of nightmares for any parent. Asaad al-Nasasra is still alive. The song places the listener in the perspective of the paramedic and taps into the fear and helplessness we would feel in his place. It concludes by imagining the protagonist driven to defiance rather than despair.”

Swiss Post-Rockers hubris. Set to Release LOTR-Inspired Album

Swiss post-rock band hubris. have confirmed their fifth album. Due for release on September 10th, ‘White Shores’ sees composer and founder Jonathan Hohl turn to the work of J.R.R. Tolkien and ‘The Lord of the Rings’ for inspiration, especially Tolkien’s exploration of mortality and immortality.

“The Hobbit was my very first exposure to literature as a child, and after Peter Jackson’s original film trilogy, I became completely obsessed with Middle-Earth,” Jonathan recalls.

‘White Shores’ unfolds across five movements, each representing a word in a single sentence: ‘Death. Is. Just. Another. Path.’ The sentence is drawn from Gandalf’s words to Pippin in Peter Jackson’s film adaptation. While Tolkien presents multiple perspectives on death throughout his works, the one that resonated most deeply with Jonathan comes from the main protagonist Frodo’s departure at the end of ‘The Lord of the Rings’.

The announcement is joined by the release of ‘Is.’ Initially considered a possible interlude, the track evolved into what Jonathan describes as “everything that we love in a post-rock song.”

“The idea for the song started while I was messing around with a reverse delay pedal. I thought the pad-like sound I was getting was extremely soothing and I hadn’t heard it used as the main focal point of a song before,” Hohl explains. “Although at first I wanted to keep it as some sort of interlude rather than a full song, we quickly managed to build around the original idea and ended up taking it to where it is now. A long, ambient and soothing intro with a heavy climax towards the end.”

“The really challenging part of the process was to learn how to play around a reverse delay while sticking to a tempo for the recording. You have to anticipate every note you’re playing and manage to keep your concentration throughout. Extremely jarring.”
