Today’s edition is a packed one. Lambrini Girls return with a sharp new single, aiming at the global elite, Alkaline Trio announce a run of UK summer headline dates alongside their 2000Trees slot, and Knumears preview their incoming album ‘Directions’ with a final single.

Oakwood also detail their long-awaited debut full-length, Birmingham’s Mirrortalk ink a deal with Hassle Records, and Blaze Bayley is confirmed for Iron Maiden‘s EddFest at Knebworth.

Lambrini Girls lambasts the World’s Global Elite on ‘Cult of Celebrity’

Explosive Brighton duo, Lambrini Girls, have returned with a new single, ‘Cult of Celebrity’.

The sharp offering sees the duo of Phoebe Lunny (vocals/guitar) and Selin Macieira (bass) take a relentless indictment at the dark underbelly and backdoor dealings of the world’s global elites.

“The age old tale, of selling your soul to the devil has been fabled accounts of high society for years. However due to recent events come to light- it turns out that the elite are very much actually, the devil incarnate, baby eating, pedos. What a fucking surprise! They had no souls to sell in the first place.”

Its release comes as they prepare for a packed calendar of festival dates, including 2000Trees, Dot To Dot,Warped Tour, Coachella, Barcelona’s Primavera Sound, and Gothenburg’s Way Out West.

Alkaline Trio Announce Summer UK Headline Dates

In addition to being the Thursday night (July 9th) headliners at 2000trees, Alkaline Trio have announced a run of headline shows as part of their trip to the UK.

It will be the band’s first shows on these shores since new drummer Tosh Peterson joined.

Knumears Prepare to Release New Album with ‘Untitled’ Single

With their new album, ‘Directions,’ set to be released this Friday (April 3rd), Los Angeles screamo upstarts, Knumears, have shared a final preview in the form of ‘Untitled’.

It’s a punchy blast of 90s skramz and modern hardcore tied up in a sharp 90 seconds. Fueled by its visceral intensity, it gives fans a final taste of what to expect from the record.

Oakwood Detail Debut Full-Length Album (‘Blurred Away’)

West Texan trio Oakwood will return on May 29th with the release of their long-awaited debut album. It’s called ‘Blurred Away’ and will be released through Memory Music.

Consisting of 10 tracks and recorded with Phil Odom (Militarie Gun and Glare), ‘Blurred Away’ sees Oakwood return after over a decade away. Having slipped into obscurity following the release of their 2015 ‘Summer’ EP, Oakwood‘s music found a new audience when one of the members re-uploaded their material online in 2023. Since then, the Austin-based trio of Mat Dwyer (vocals/guitar/bass), Noah Roots (drums), and TJ James (guitar/bass) have played a sold-out tour, including selling 1,200 tickets in Los Angeles.

While last October’s ‘Footnote’ single signalled a return, it is ‘Tangled Mess,’ the first proper single from ‘Blurred Away’ that marks the return of Oakwood. ‘Tangled Mess’ captures what the three-piece is all about, delivering a melodically rich slice of thorough emo. While lyrically turning existential dread into something highly cathartic, Oakwood musically has been compared to names such as Algernon Cadwallader, Jimmy Eat World, Title Fight, and Jets to Brazil.

Hassle Records Sign Mirrortalk; Shares New Single

Birmingham-based quartet Mirrortalk have inked a deal with Hassle Records.

“We’re absolutely buzzing to announce that we’ve been signed by Hassle Records. Their roster and work speaks for itself, and we can’t wait for everyone to hear the music we’re going to put out together,” shared the alt-rockers. “The tunes they’ve put out have touched so many people including ourselves, so to be a part of it is amazing.”

It follows their recent run of shows supporting label mates, Casey. They have also marked the news with the release of a track called ‘Circle The Drain’. It sees Mirrortalk demonstrate their blend of post-hardcore, shoegaze, 90s heavy rock and grunge within a favourable four minutes.

“‘Circle The Drain’ is about accepting your issues, and trying to face them with the person you love,” Mirrortalk explained. “Warning them of the challenge ahead, but pleading with them to join you.”

Blaze Bayley Added to Iron Maiden’s EddFest Line-Up

Iron Maiden are set to host their own festival, EddFest, at Knebworth House on Friday, July 10th and Saturday, July 11th.

While the main event takes place on Saturday, the day before will see a host of Maiden-related entertainment. Friday night’s ‘Maidenville’ stage will be headlined by former Iron Maiden frontman Blaze Bayley.

From 1994 to 1999, Bayley fronted the iconic UK metallers. At EddFest, Bayley and his band will be performing material from the two albums he did with the band; ‘The X Factor’ and Virtual XI’.

“I’m so excited to be invited to headline Friday night at EDDFEST, celebrating 50 years of Iron Maiden,” says Blaze. “I am so proud of my two albums with the band and I’m really looking forward to playing some of the songs that we recorded together. Can’t wait to see you all at the hallowed grounds of Knebworth!”

In additional news, Gypsy’s Kiss, the band Iron Maiden‘s Steve Harris formed in 1974 with singer and guitarist, David Smith, will also be performing on the Maidenville stage on Friday night too.
