Basement Previews New Album with ‘The Way I Feel’

Basement has shared another preview of their previously announced album, ‘Wired’. The third single is called ‘The Way I Feel’.

The track sees the Brit alt-rockers hone in on producer John Congleton’s raw yet anthemic style. With James Fisher’s roomy drums, Alex Henery and Ronan Crix’s subtle fuzz-driven guitars, and crowd-made hook of “(Take it all away) I want you to notice,” ‘The Way I Feel’ certainly does the job by teasing Basement‘s long-awaited return.

“‘The Way I Feel’ is about standing on the edge of a really important decision, right before you make it. Constantly questioning whether you have the courage to stand up for yourself and fight your side, while at the same time begging for forgiveness and acknowledgement,” vocalist Andrew Fisher explains. “My tongue is in my cheek quite a lot in this song, you need to decide when I’m saying what I mean or not. I love the simplicity of this song, and I love that the intro is the same audio sample that Al (Alex Henery) made on his loop pedal. I knew from the first time he sent that audio file that this would be a song.”

‘Wired’ is released on May 8th through Run For Cover Records.

Guilt Trip Details New Album and Shares New Single

Manchester metallic hardcore force Guilt Trip have returned with details of their third album. It’s titled ‘Armour Of Angels’, and will be released on 5th June via Roadrunner Records.

The release of a new track joins the announcement, ‘No Love Lost’. It sees the quintet deliver a huge swing of groove-laden, pit-ready, hardcore.

“‘No Love Lost’ is all the best of Guilt Trip spliced into a fast and unrelenting 2.5 minutes. This is just a taste of things to come as we prepare to unleash our third LP, ‘Armour of Angels’, says Guilt Trip ahead of kicking off a co-headline US tour with Malevolence. “We are immensely proud of this record, combining everything special about ‘Severance’ with an added swing of heaviness and a more mature writing style. We hope these three years have been worth the wait. Thank you to everyone that has and everyone that continues to support Guilt Trip.”

Guilt Trip is set to play the Slam Dunk Festival on May 23rd and 24th.

Oh Hiroshima Announce New Album (‘And the Dead Tree Gives No Shelter’)

On June 5th, Swedish post-rock duo Oh Hiroshima will release their new album, ‘And the Dead Tree Gives No Shelter’, via Pelagic Records.

A press release announcing the record says it’s “rooted in existential reflection and modern disillusionment” and sees the pairing of Jakob Hemström and Oskar Nilsson navigate “the space between despair and meaning with a quiet defiance.”

“The album title is drawn from T.S. Eliot’s ‘The Waste Land,’ the band shares, explaining the concept behind the record. “The dead tree works as a metaphor for ways of living that drain the world of meaning and offer no real way of navigating the hardships of life. We are living in a time when it has become harder and harder to imagine a bright future. This leaves many of us with a deep sense of hopelessness that easily breeds cynicism and apathy. In that state, it becomes easy to shut the world out and give up any attempts at meaningful interaction with the world around us. A destructive cycle follows, as this leaves us with no way of sheltering ourselves from our initial despair at the state of things. But these songs also aim to paint something meaningful and hopeful. A form of idealisation not rooted in naivety but in realism, because we need ideals to gather enough strength to leave the shelterless dead trees of our lives behind.”

As a preview, they’ve shared a track called ‘Broken Sunlight’. It demonstrates Oh Hiroshima‘s rich, warm sound with a hint of urgency. As it unfolds, it takes the shape of a rising, cathartic number that draws you in.

“With ‘Broken Sunlight’ we wanted something that hits you directly, with rhythm and melody tightly interwoven. It’s about holding onto something fragile, a shard of hope in a reality that feels increasingly fractured.” says the band.
