Citizen Announce New Album and UK Tour Dates
Toledo, OH rock quintet Citizen have announced their sixth studio album, ‘Halcyon Blues’. It’s set to be released on August 7th via Run For Cover Records.
17 years into a career that has moved through raw emo, post-hardcore, anthemic alternative, and garage-y indie pop, Citizen‘s latest albums arrives by promising to draw from every corner of their catalogue. ‘Halcyon Blues’ was recorded by vocalist Mat Kerekes in his home studio and mixed by Tom Lorde-Alge (U2, Weezer, Blink-182).
As the album’s first single, ‘Highs and Lows’ shows, the record looks to tap into the urgency of the band’s early work with a broader scope. Undoubtedly, ‘Halcyon Blues’ looks to be the next evolution of Citizen. In short, they continue to take a long-term approach with guitarist Nick Hamm explaining; “We don’t think in moments, or months, or record cycles. Some bands end up getting sick of whatever walls they exist in, but I see Citizen as this long term creative project where there’s always somewhere new to go, and that’s kept me exhilarated through all these years. A lot of people grew with us and we’re really thankful for that.”
‘Highs and Lows’ makes for a promising introduction to Citizen‘s next chapter. With its controlled build from a dark, pulsing bassline merging into a punchy, wide-open chorus, they’ve arguebably never sound so assured.

Death Cab For Cutie Previews New Album With ‘Punching The Flowers’
With a release date of June 5th set for their new album, ‘I Built You A Tower,‘ Death Cab For Cutie have shared its second single, ‘Punching The Flowers’.
Described by frontman Ben Gibbard as “a song about stagnation and the feeling of being imprisoned by The Known,” ‘Punching The Flowers’ sees him spin a real-life experience of a toddler throwing a tantrum literally punching flowers outside a bodega, into a metaphor for a man who has something beautiful and sees its hold over him as a cage, a frustration. It’s complemented by a stiff, angular tone as Jason McGerr’s snapping snare drums dominates, with gentler guitars weaving in the track’s final moments.
The band tour Europe and the UK in September in support of ‘I Built You A Tower’, with support from Pool Kids. The dates mark the band’s first UK run since their double-headline 20th anniversary tour for ‘Transatlanticism’ and ‘Give Up’ (as The Postal Service), which included a headline slot at All Points East. Two London dates at the Troxy are almost sold out.

Static Dress Tease New Album with ‘…hospice’
Earlier this month, Leeds quartet Static Dress revealed details of their new album, ‘injury episode’. Now, ahead of its May 29th released through Sumerian Records, they’ve shared another track from the record. The track is called ‘…hospice’, and represents a deliberate shift in Static Dress‘ execution.
With its expansive, lush instrumentation, and uplifting emotion, …hospice exemplifies Static Dress‘ confident range topped by a stadium-sized chorus. It’s music video, directed by vocalist Olli Appleyard, places him in a grand hall, caught between realities as a masked figure searches for genuine emotion.
Static Dress play Slam Dunk South in Hatfield on May 23rd and Slam Dunk North in Leeds on May 24th, just days before ‘injury episode’ drops. The band also join Bring Me The Horizon at Bowlers Exhibition Centre, Manchester on July 11th and 12th.
Northlane Return With New Single ‘Evian’
Australian metal outfit Northlane have returned with a track called ‘Evian’.
The track shifts between euphoric trance electronics and fierce, seismic breakdowns as it works through its central theme; confronting personal trauma in order to return to the people who matter to you from a healthier place. “‘Evian’ is about self-improvement through confronting trauma then finding your way back to someone from a healthier place,” elaborates with Marcus Bridge. “It explores the choice to grow on your own rather than dragging others down with you, making a conscious effort to heal before your struggles start affecting the people you care about.”
Northlane are currently touring North America with Dayseeker before heading to Europe for the summer festival circuit, including a stop at Bloodstock. The band’s camp has hinted that more is to come later in 2026.
