Today’s round-up sees Hatebreed, Imminence and Pain Of Truth announce new albums, while Chiodos, Self Defense Family and Origami Angel return with new music. Militarie Gun also detail a deluxe edition of last year’s ‘God Save The Gun’.

There are also 25 new additions to the ‘Newish Music’ playlist, including tracks from Chelsea Wolfe, Russian Circles, 156/Silence, and more.

Hatebreed Set to Release First Album in Six Years

Influential hardcore group Hatebreed have shared details of their first album in six years. ‘Fatal Paradox’ is the band’s ninth album and will be released through their new label, BLKIIBLK, on November 6th.

The album’s announcement is joined by the release of the album’s opening track, ‘Kill Count Increase’. Working alongside long-time collaborator Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Accept, Shadows Fall), the track captures Hatebreed‘s signature intense sound.

“‘Kill Count Increase’ is the lead track on ‘Fatal Paradox’ and a perfect way of summing up our first album in six years from the start,” states frontman Jamey Jasta. “It’s straightforward, in-your-face Hatebreed. Fast. Hard. It gets down to business and comes up for air two-and-a-half minutes later. The room and everyone in it gets wrecked and comes back wanting more.”

Imminence Confirm New Album with Two New Songs Released

Having announced a return to the UK for early 2027, Imminence have set a date of October 2nd for their new album. It’s called ‘Axis Mundi’ and will be released through Sumerian Records.

The news arrives with the Swedish band sharing two tracks: ‘False Light’ and ‘Crestfallen’. Together they offer an insight into ‘Axis Mundi’‘s balance between devastating heaviness and cinematic breadth.

‘False Light’ is considered one of the album’s most ferocious moments, with its crushing guitars and pounding percussion. In contrast, ‘Crestfallen’ showcases Imminence‘s rich and immersive capabilities.

“Duality has always been at the heart of IMMINENCE. Our musical expression is a conversation between darkness and light, violence and beauty, despair and hope,” shares guitarist Harald Barrett. “‘False Light’ and ‘Crestfallen’ embody those opposing forces more clearly than anything we’ve released before. They’re radically different in sound and emotion, but together they tell a single story. That’s why it felt important to present them side by side as we unveil ‘Axis Mundi’. Our new album is not meant to be experienced from one perspective alone. It’s a journey through every extreme that defines what Imminence is, and these two songs are the perfect gateway into that world.”

Imminence will be returning to the UK in January 2027 for two headline shows. Support comes from August Burns Red.

Militarie Gun Plan ‘God Save The Gun (Deluxe)’ Release and Share New Track with Mannequin Pu*sy

Fresh off their appearance at 2000trees, Militarie Gun have announced plans to release a deluxe edition of last year’s ‘God Save The Gun’ record.

Set for release on August 7th via Loma Vista Recordings, it’ll include three new tracks, including their new single ‘World’s Always Burning’. It features a cameo from Mannequin Pussy.

All three songs were set to appear on the original album. However, the band felt they didn’t fit the internal tone that the rest of the record had. “Everything in ‘God Save The Gun’ became so focused on the internal, that when it came to fitting these songs in, it felt like they had stepped outside of that perspective,” vocalist Ian Shelton shares. “In my head these songs started to form into the feeling of finally coming to after being so caught up in your own head, and then realising the rest of the world is still out there and you haven’t been actively participating.”

Chiodos Join SharpTone Records and Release New Song

Post-hardcore outfit Chiodos are the latest name to join SharpTone Records. The news coincides with the release of ‘TAPDAT’, their first new music in over a decade.

Loaded with frantic guitars, relentless energy, and Craig Owens’ distinctive vocals, it captures Chiodos‘ cinematic and emotionally charged sound.

“There is still so much work to be done to build out the world of Chiodos. ‘TAPDAT’ is the first step in that direction,” shares Owens. “Its return to our ethos is what drew me back to creating with this band, and you can feel it throughout every minute of the song. An unapologetic, experimental ride that pulls you in every step of the way. As for the future of Chiodos, I’m surrounded by incredible talent. We are stronger, more focused than ever and eager to continue the story I’ve been waiting 12 years to tell.”

Self Defense Family Return with ‘Reclusion’

After six years without new music, Self Defense Family have returned with a track called ‘Reclusion’.

With the familiar vocals of Patrick Kindlon (Drug Church) at the forefront, it sees him display impassioned vocals above churning chords and thunderous drums which unpeel throughout the track.

“I’ve been trying to write lyrics about family and animals instead of songs about being atomized and thinking everyone is crazy. But it turns out even my love songs are about being atomized and thinking everyone is crazy. Call it a creative through line, I guess,” says Kindlon.

Patrick also shared some insight into the making of the track, hinting at further new music from Self Defense Family.

“We’ve been playing together forever, so meeting up to write and record some songs is just a natural thing that happens. We recorded last year, but I’ve been holding up the process. Typically I go into the studio and write while I record, and it’s only ever about conveying a moment. But this time I’m struggling with the idea of getting things ‘perfect.’ A silly idea. But some of these songs are about things I want to get right the first time. I’ve got a family I love but everyone is dying on me. I’d like to have lyrics that do it all justice.”

Hear Two New Tracks from Origami Angel

Relentless Washington, D.C. duo Origami Angel have treated fans to two new songs. Both ‘Play Around the Crit’ and ‘Compound Eyes’ were produced by vocalist Ryland Heagy and were written for YouTube/Twitch streamer pChal. The content creator specialises in Pokémon challenges.

Together, both tracks come and go in less than three minutes. The first track, ‘Play Around the Crit’, exemplifies the “Gami Gang”‘s assured emo/pop-punk sound. Meanwhile, ‘Compound Eyes’ is a shorter and gentler offering.

Origami Angel are also currently working with producer Will Yip (Turnstile, Tight Fight) on the follow-up to 2024’s ‘Feeling Not Found’.

Pain Of Truth Announce New Album and Share New Single

Long Island hardcore band Pain Of Truth will return on September 25th with a self-titled album via Daze.

Produced by Will Putney (Body Count, Incendiary, Counterparts), Pain Of Truth‘s second album sees the quintet amplify their sound. As new single ‘Unforgiven’ shows, the band’s sound is rooted in groove-laden, old-school hardcore. While lyrically, the song and album see Pain Of Truth write about resistance, struggle, and drive.

“I wrote this track to give a sense of hope in horrible times. Using your energy to make a move and turning it into a win,” says vocalist Michael Brian Smith.
