Lucky Scars are hard-partying rock and rollers that are mad, bad and dangerous to know. They have surnames like Scars, Kill and Rage (seriously), which is all a bit of a shame because they are pretty good. Scars is really Jon Bunch (Sense Field/War Generation) and Kill is actually Nik Hill (ex-Ignite), so the image is (probably) a little tongue in cheek.

What you actually get is four 2 minute slices of no-nonsense, up-tempo, catchy punk pop with a hard-rocking attack of searing riffs and a bit of social comment. From the ‘80s-tinged ‘All Lies’, through the interesting ‘Bandita’ with its harsh guitars, to the frantic ‘Rules and Laws’ and the slightly darker ‘Vampire’, it is all pretty enjoyable stuff.

The guitar is non-stop rock and the choruses are hooky, but its lyrically sharp, particularly on ‘Rules and Laws’ with lines like, “Take away your freedom/ what’s the color of your skin/ where do you think you’re going/ we know everywhere you been.”

It may not be great value at only eight minutes long, but if it’s snappy hard-rocking punkiness you want, then you’re in the right place.
