#NewMusicFriday (September 1st 2023)

#NewMusicFriday September 1st 2023

It’s a new month and it kicks off with a diverse #NewMusicFriday.

First of all, after a decade of talking up the idea, Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil and Oceansize’s Mike Vennart’s grindcore project, Empire State Basatrd, deliver their debut album – ‘Rivers Of Heresy’. Their line-up is completed by Slayer’s Dave Lombardo and Bitch Falcon’s Naomi Macleod.

Royal Blood look to move past that Big Weekend snafu with ‘Back To The Water Below’. Aussie metalcore outfit Polaris solider on following the passing of guitarist Ryan Siew this past June with the release of ‘Fatalism’. While Jeff Rosenstock is as loud and as poignant as ever as he returns with ‘Hellmode’. On the UK front, Delaire The Liar are as emotionally fraught as ever on new EP – ‘Self Defence’. Whereas post-rock favourites, Blanket, offer up powerful and atmospheric soundscapes on new EP, ‘Blue Eyes’.

Some of today’s other notable releases include Converge dropping a deluxe edition of ‘The Dusk In Us’. Infectious rockers Just Friends and their latest funk-laden collection, ‘Gusher’. Finally, Taking Meds provides an assortment of earworm melodies on ‘Dial M For Meds’.
