Emerging electro-emo angst-pop trio Air Drawn Dagger are gearing up to release their new EP, ‘Songs To Fight The Gods To’, on October 13th. With their new single, ‘Stigmata’, they firmly class themselves as “ones to walk”.
It sees the Sheffield-based trio deliver a pulsating and addictive number while lyrically fighting an unwanted route. “‘Stigmata’ is a song about feeling as if fate is against you. Like you’re on a path you don’t want to be on but it’s exactly where you’re meant to be,” says vocalist Maisie. “All the fortune tellers in the world are telling you the same thing but you don’t want to believe it so you just keep swinging against the hand you’ve been dealt. This is denying your destiny, this is Stigmata.”
It’s accompanied by a compelling video, directed by Aaran Mckenzie of While She Sleeps. Utilising POV and reverse POV camera angles, it follows Maisie on her way to a video shoot yet fate works against her, leading to self-destructive choices.
