Just weeks removed from their appearance at the Download Festival, melodic post-hardcore group Dayseeker have shared details of their sixth studio album. It’s called ‘Creature In The  Black Night’ and will be released on Friday, 24th October via Spinefarm.

The album sees the Southern Californian band collaborate with Daniel Braunstein (Spiritbox, Silent Planet) and mixed by Zakk Cervini (Blink-182, Bring Me The Horizon, Lorna Shore), on what is described as an “eerie, and cinematic” record “threaded with dark (and sexy) emotional current.”

It’s accompanied by conceptual consistency that dives into its shadowy visual identity, Grim Reaper iconography, and ominous
atmosphere. It allows each track to unfold like chapters.  “There’s a horror-inspired vibe that took hold early on,” Rodriguez explains. “It wasn’t planned. But once it started showing up in the songs, we leaned into it,” states vocalist Rory Rodriguez.

The announcement of ‘Creature In the Black Night’ also sees Dayseeker share its title track. Opening with blood-drenched synths, Rodriguez’s distinct falsetto leads as his bandmates, Gino Sgambelluri (guitar), Ramone Valerio (bass), and Zac Mayfield (drums), build up the tension. Yet any preconceptions that the quartet are set to go “more commercial” is soon forgotten. Delivering a sharp breakdown that bursts out. “We’re riffing more, I’m screaming more. And it feels good. It feels honest,” Rodriguez shares when commenting on the track. Lyrically, it’s a tale of toxic love, where obsession, desire, and pain blur the line between longing and suffering. In turn, it shows Dayseeker haven’t lost the emotional charge that they have become known for.

The album also includes their previous single, ‘Pale Moonlight’.

‘Creature In The Black Night’ Lyrics

Guilty hands can’t hide their plans
Once I got a hold on you, I won’t let go
On your knees, you’ll understand
Nothing stays the same except the taste of gold

Fuck me in your dreams like you can’t escape it
I can make a scene when I feel degraded
Bullet through my heart when I feel you break it
I feel you break it

So why are you lucid in the daylight
You feel like a stranger inside your skin
You run like a creature in the black night
And you’ll be alone in your bed ‘til the bitter end

You keep talking with your hands
You can taste the poison with your swollen tongue
Bite your neck, I want it bad
Blood into a diamond with a single touch
But something keeps you coming back

So why are you lonely in the twilight
You live with a fever that makes you sick

I can find you when the sun sets
Where you’re furthest from the light
I will follow you forever
Like a creature in the night

I can turn a dream right into a living nightmare
Show me how to feel when you show me that you don’t care
