Album Review: Amberline – The Art of Reinvention

For me this release defines why I write for Already Heard; I get to hear new talented bands I would have never heard of otherwise. If you’re like me and have never listened to Amberline before, you’re sure in for a treat. The group have a distinct rock style, with heavy metal instrumentals lifted by the sweet pop-punk vocals from lead singer Mark Steggall.

After listening to ‘The Art Of Reinvention’, I can confirm I have certainly been converted into a fan. This small-time band hailing from Guildford has already supported bands such as Attack! Attack! and have just finished a UK tour; these guys are certainly on the path to greatness.

The record begins with ‘Years Gone By’ which starts with hard-hitting electrifying rocky riffs and a powerful beat, the vocals add a harmonious touch to the hardcore punchy instrumentals. The sweeping melody and thrilling riffs really make it an intense heavy smash-hit.

‘The Lost and Hopeless’ is an outstanding track, which begins with harmonious riffs then breaks in with a ferocious fast-paced melody and intense drums. The chorus is wickedly catchy and you will soon find yourself singing your heart-out along to the seductive lyrics, “We can always stay together, we can always last forever”. The hit also features an absolute cracker of a guitar solo finishing the song on a high-note.

This follows with ‘I’m A Grower, Not A Show-er’ which demonstrates the band’s youthful humorous spirit, reminding me of Sum 41 or Blink 182. The track is a more upbeat energetic pop-punk track reminiscing those famous nineties groups.

Amberline have created a terrific EP that is sure to get their name out there; ‘The Art of Reinvention’ is currently free to listen to on the band’s Facebook so what is there to lose? The tracks are creative, diverse and these guys are certainly talented. You are graced by heavy beats, electrifying riffs, superb instrumentals and sweeping melodies, all infused with soft pop-punk sing-along vocals. If you’re a fan of bands such as New Found Glory or Four Year Strong then Amberline are for you!
