Album Review: Cave Bear- CVBR EP

Caves are usually dark and nasty, right? Full of spiders and traps and some boss at the end (sorry, I’ve played Zelda a lot) and then like, the only nice bear I can think of is Yogi bear and that little son/nephew/cousin/or whatever that he has, so I’m under the assumption that bears are vicious creatures and would rip your arms off and stuff. Now, imagine combining the two! WOAH! Exactly, yeah. Crazy cave bears that are super ferocious and full of bite. Seems fitting for such a band and their latest EP.

Only 3 tracks long so if you blink with your ears you’ll miss it (and you’d need to see a doctor for being able to do that). Fast, gritty and a blast of hardcore punk that’ll rip your arms off and stuff like their name sake. A progressive element means that once you’re comfortable in that riff empowering your ears you’re suddenly thrown onto the next, and then a drum fill to fill the gaps and then into some double time where you’ve gotta quickly fasten your seat belts.

It’s full of surprises, and of course that also makes it surprisingly good. How do more people not know of Cave Bear?! I am actually disappointed in all of you reading this if you haven’t picked up this EP yet. The only downside is that it’s not long enough! Go and nag the band for an LP to be released like, now. Otherwise we’ll have to rip their arms off and stuff.
