Album Review: Cavorts – Times Told EP

imageCavorts are one impressive band: having formed just under a year ago they have already played bigger stages than many can only dream of; supporting the likes of Dragonforce and Skindred, playing their music to thousands of music lovers across the country. The four-piece released their EP ‘Times Told’ at the back end of last year and it’s an absolute blinder, completely defining their sound in the short space of four tracks.

Combining elements of hard rock and punk to produce a fierce Rock ‘n’ Roll vibe, Cavorts don’t waste any time in proving their sound, kick starting their EP with the fast and ferocious ‘Pig of Ballast,’ whose opening seconds feature a thrashing riff and powerful roar, not to mention being full to the brim with infectious hooks. ‘Make It Suffer’ is no different, beginning similarly to the opening track with a fierce riff. Credit needs to go to vocalist Ryan Senior, whose wild roars really emphasise the heavy punk rock that Cavorts execute so perfectly.

‘The Way’ contains some fantastic riffs, especially one that features near the beginning of the track which continues to reiterate just how strong this EP is. ‘Times Told’ draws to an incredible close with ‘Save Some Things,’ a track with a mighty 1 minute 15 second instrumental opening, a very impressive guitar solo and the usual jaw dropping substance that Cavorts have consistently provided.

It’s safe to say that this band is extremely underrated: they have released an EP that, for their short amount of time together, is that impressive that it’ll be a crime if they don’t make it big. ‘Times Told’ is an outstanding record that punk rock lovers NEED to get their hands on. Immediately.

4.5/5

‘Times Told’ by Cavorts is out now via GrazedLand/Lightning to the Nations (UK) & Distort (Canada).
