Album Review: Counterfeit – Come Get Some EP

imagePunk rocker trio Counterfeit have thrown out a new record ‘Come Get Some’. Like many EPs the three-tracker is but a teaser, but they’ve got their first debut show on the 18th December which means there’s no stopping.

The last I had personally seen of frontman Jamie Campbell Bower he was singing about the forbidden love of his sweetheart in Sweeney Todd (which was also fantastic). However, the tables seem to have turned and his band waste no time on polite introductions or inhibitions with the title track.

Vulgar in the best way possible, bold lyricism resonates through this song, supported by a meaty instrumental background.

Up next, ‘Hold Fire’ is a future crowd-pleaser for sure. The repetitive but suddenness to the structure mixed with the feel-good riffs leave an imprint as the song finishes abruptly.

Last to grace the EP is ‘Family Suicide’, which takes you up an incredibly steep incline and somehow ends up taking you higher when you reach the top. This track really displays Counterfeit’s enigmatic energy and does not close the door on the band from this short EP but opens it wider.

Keep an eye out for them in the future. It’s gonna be big.
