For many, pop-punk is dominated by American bands. While their British and Aussie counterparts have been making a strong case in recent years. Nevertheless it is a genre that has universal appeal, with bands popping up in all corners of the world. Today we’d like to introduce you to Norway’s Taking Names. Hailing from the southwestern coast city of Bergen, the quintet will be releasing their new EP, ‘Trap City’ tomorrow. However, Already Heard has landed another exclusive and are premiering the EP today.
With their roots in late 90s/early 2000s pop-punk, the five-track release carries a wealth of big hooks and earnest lyrics that make Taking Names an exciting prospect as they look to explore out of their homeland. With songs as fun and infectious as these, we’re sure it won’t be long until we see more of Taking Names. For fans of “woah”’s, occasional goofy lines, and gigantic choruses, this is an essential listen.
‘Trap City’ EP by Taking Names is released on 24th February Loyal Blood Records
