This weekend, rising Leeds quartet FURR will be playing the city-wide festival, Live At Leeds. The multi-venue festival plays host to a whole load of names from the world of rock, indie and more, with a healthy mix of firmly established acts (Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, Slave, Nothing But Thieves) and emerging talent (LIFE, Blackwaters, Faux Pas).
Having contributed their previous single, ‘Padlocks’, to our new ‘Recommends: Volume 4’ compilation, we have teamed up with FURR once again to premiere their next single. ‘Another Fable’ sees the quartet showcase their brand of melodic, fuzz-laden alt-rock that has seen them be compared to Queens of The Stone Age, Weezer and Dinosaur Pile-Up.
“Another Fable is the frankenstein of all these different musical influences that make up what Furr it is about. If someone said ‘what do Furr sound like?’ this would be the song to play them,“ explains guitarist Sam Jackson. "Loud in your face guitars and pop-ish vocal melodies. There might be a guitar solo! It’s the first time we’ve been critical of things going on around us and what’s been pissing us off recently. It’s about how obsessed with people we are about people we’ve never met and all this pop culture we have shoved in our face constantly….”
The track makes up one-half of Come Play With Me’s next split single release. The Leeds-based single club aims to highlight exceptional and diverse local talent. Joining FURR will be indie-math-pop-rock band RIIB.
The split single from FURR and RIIB will be released on 14th July on Come Play With Me.
FURR will be playing the Live At Leeds Festival at 12.15 at the Key Club (Dork Magazine Stage).
