With their snarling attitude and thorough DIY direction, Syslak are an exciting prospect for the UK punk scene. Originally hailing from the hardcore scenes of County Durham and Lincolnshire, Syslak now call Leeds their home. Over the past 12 months they’ve been putting together their eponymous debut EP. Now with the EP set to be released on February 15th through CHUD Records, the trio made up of Will Tapply (Guitar, Vocals), Patxi Moderno (Drums) and James Wright (Bass), have teamed up with Already Heard to premier their self-made animated video for ‘Skin’.
The track blends together Buzzcocks-esque punk with a modest yet raw pop punk tone, to create 2 minutes and 46 seconds of modern, razor sharp punk rock that has its roots firmly in the DIY scene.
On the track and video, guitartist/vocalist Will had this to say:
“We didn’t really have a clue what we were doing, but we did it anyway. We did the recording, the video, the art and the printing ourselves. We’re DIY through obsession with process as much as political statement.”
