This past Friday, Californian duo The Dollyrots released their sixth studio album – ‘Whiplash Splash’. It sees the pair, vocalist/bassist Kelly Ogden and guitarist Luis Cabezas, deliver another collection of infectious and fun sun-soaked punk. Today, Already Heard are premiering a lyric video for ‘Mermaid’.
The track lyrically balances between Ogden reminiscing about her younger years wanting to be a Mermaid, and the ebb and flow of life that Ogden and Cabezas share in California, as they split their time between downtown Los Angeles and coastal Florida. Overall, they provide a punchy slice of catchy punk that is jsut a snapshot of what ‘Whiplash Splash’ has to offer.
“We all want to evolve but are often too afraid to step out of our element,” Kelly tells us. “’Mermaid’ is inspired by those desires and fears as well as our love of the water and all its creature.”
‘Whiplash Splash’ by The Dollyrots is out now on Arrested Youth Records.
