Fresh off the back of their return to the UK at last month’s Outbreak Fest, Balance and Composure continue to preview their new album, ‘with you in spirit’. Today the Pennsylvania group have shared a track titled ‘believe the hype’.
The sonically impressive number sees vocalist and guitarist Jon Simmons take an intense self-reflective approach, considering his faith, familial responsibility and mortality. He’s backed by subtly heavy sound that complements the weighty lyrical nature.
‘with you in spirit’ is released on October 4th through Memory Music.
‘believe the hype’ Lyrics
Today I thought about it all
And I think that you owe me a “sorry”
Cough it up, yeah make it count
I hope you feel so lost without me
All these thoughts they boil up
I’m overflowing, yeah I’m leaking
There’s nowhere safe to pour them out
Cause no one knows me
I’m your secret
I must be out of my mind
Fall for it every time and I will until I die
I find solace in yearning for you now
I mistake lust for passion and pain
I’ll believe the hype, I try to stay
Cause I still need this
I’ve tried sober. I’ve tried drunk
I can’t numb enough to try to fix it
I call your bluff, you’re not so tough
You used me up, don’t get it twisted
And I’ve got others on my line, at least five
I use them all to distract me
The show that you’ve been putting on is old and tired
You’re overacting
I must be out of my mind
Fall for it every time and I will until I die
I find solace in yearning for you now
I mistake lust for passion and pain
I’ll believe the hype, I try to stay
Cause I still need this
I’m so sorry for your stress
You’ve got a grieving heart and a heavy head
So you take it out on me instead
But I don’t mind, I’m used to it
I’ve got a fetish for suffering and bleeding out for an audience
