With less than a month until to the release of ‘Calling The Dogs’, Citizen have shared a third track from the album. ‘When I Let You Down’ continues the lyrical honesty previous singles, ‘Hyper Trophy’ and ‘If You’re Lonely’, showcased.
The song examines Citizen vocalist Mat Kerekes’ relationships as he reminisces on old memories, apathetically leaving his past behind, while friends of his are frozen in time and going through the motions.
“When you talk to an old friend and they can only say, ‘remember when,’ it makes me really sad. It’s a very subtle way of showing the friendship has died,” Kerekes shared. “Some people are a bit lost in life and this song is to encourage them to move on from the past and make new memories.”
‘Calling the Dogs’ is released on 6th October 2023, via Run For Cover Records, and can be pre-ordered here. While the album can be pre-saved here.
