Last October Lincoln melodic hardcore band Climates parted ways with vocalist Wes Thompson. The remaining four members, guitarists Sam Bowden and Chris Pritchard, bassist Max Dawson and drummer Matt Powles, decided to continue and keep writing new music. Today they revealed their new vocalist and a new name.

Their new vocalist Kaya Tarsus, a former band mate of Pritchard’s. The newly formed quintet will be going forward under the name of Blood Youth.

They will enter the studio in late February to record a new EP with producer Jonny Renshaw, before making their live debut at Southampton’s Takedown Festival on March 7th.

“Thank you to everyone who has waited patiently for news on what the future holds for us.

There has been a hell of a lot going on behind the scenes these past few months, but we are now ready to let you all know that we have decided to turn over a new leaf and have a fresh start under a new name and identity: we are now Blood Youth.

We felt that this was the best thing we could do for ourselves, our band and, indeed, for the legacy of what Climates was and what that band achieved.

When we first found our new member and frontman, Kaya Tarsus, the original plan was to dust ourselves off, and carry on as Climates. But the combination of Kaya’s style as a vocalist with the energy of the new material we’ve been writing made it feel like we were a different band. We have felt re-invigorated and closer to the kind of band we’d always wanted to be, so it just didn’t make sense anymore for us to carry on as we were before.

We have been hard at work on new material and we have now completed 5 new songs, which we honestly feel is some of the best music we have ever created together, and we are all very excited about the songs, the future and what Kaya is bringing to the table.

Some of you will have already seen Kaya in action on the shows we played with Vanna at the end of 2014, so we hope you’ll all agree that we’ve found the right man for the job.

We will be recording a brand new EP at the end of February, and we hope to be getting this new music out for you all to hear as soon as humanly possible. We are really stoked for you all to hear it.

We understand that this may come as a shock to you all, but we hope you can appreciate what a big decision this was for us to make and that you will continue to support us in this new chapter for our band.

We will be playing our very first show as Blood Youth at Takedown Festival on March 7th at Southampton Uni, and there’s more shows to be announced in the coming weeks.

Thank you for listening, we’ll see you all very soon.
Sam, Chris, Matt, Max and Kaya”
