Having recently released their Topshelf Records debut in the form of ‘Don’t Take Our Filth Away,’ Portland, Oregon’s Duck. Little Brother, Duck! have a chaotic and dynamic sound that perfectly fits the Topshelf mould. Tracks like ’Everybody Loves Screamo’ and ‘If I Didn’t Have My Press Badge’ are rugged and sporadic in structure.

Already Heard recently asked Kyle Parisi and Kyle Souder from the band to take part in our regular “If I…” questionnaire. The pair told us which songs they would re-record, what other genre of music they would be playing and more.

If I could re-record one song it would be…
Kyle P: ‘Calvin Young’
Kyle S: ‘OMGMT’

If I could re-live one tour/show it would be…
Kyle P: That trip with Zoogirl.
Kyle S:Yeah, that trip with Zoogirl for sure.

If I could play with one band it would be…

Kyle P: Jerry Fuchs (RIP)
Kyle S: Jeff Buckley (RIP)

If I could bring back any band that have split up, it would be…
Kyle P: Unwound
Kyle S: Yeah, Unwound or Faraquet.

If I wasn’t playing music, I would be…
Kyle P: I would have a lot more money.
Kyle S: A lot more successful/

If I could play a different genre it would be…
Kyle S: Some stripped down weirdo stuff. Like Unwound or Lowercase, or that second Blonde Redhead record.
Kyle P: Something kinda shoegaze-y or emo-ish.

If I could have written any song it would be…
Kyle S: Faraquet’s ‘Cut Self Not.’
Kyle P: True Widow – Duelist

If I could have written any album it would be…
Kyle S: Kayo Dot – Dowsing Anemone With Copper Tongue

If I could headline any festival, it would be…
Kyle S: All Tomorrow’s Parties (even though that makes no sense.)

If I could organise my own festival, the bands playing would be…
Kyle S: Faraquet reunion, Unwound reunion, Black Eyes reunion, fuck new bands.
Kyle P: All of the above, and June of 44, old Cursive, and Can.

If I could play any other instrument, it would be…
Kyle S: Drums or trumpet.
Kyle P: Piano or violin.

If I could give one piece of advice to a new band, it would be…
Kyle S: Work hard, write music you want to write. Don’t try to appeal to anything, that’s boring. Go on tour.
Kyle P: Eat Right, Sleep Right, Learn to have good time. (No, not “A” good time. “Good Time”)
