imageIf you didn’t know already, we’ve recently relaunched our “If I…” interview series and for this edition we spoke to Rob Dodkin (vocals/guitars) and Nathan Wright (drummer) from emerging Hertfordshire rockers My Little Empire.

Having been featured on our “Recommends” series already, we’ve got high hopes for My Little Empire with their brand of honest, pop-rock.

As always “If I…” sees Rob and Nathan answer questions on various topics such as what album and song they wish they had written, their fantasy festival lineup, what advice they’d give to a new band and more.

If your band would like to be featured as part of “If I…” full details can be found here.

If I could re-record one song it would be…
Rob Dodkin: ‘I’m Not OK’ by My Chemical Romance.

If I could re-live one tour/show it would be…
RD: Our sold out headline show at Camden Barfly, such a great night.
Nathan Wright: AC/DC’s ‘Ball Breaker’ Tour from 1996. I was there 14 years old and it was very loud!! .

If I had the chance to play one venue it would be…
Rob: Wembley Stadium.
Nathan: We are still waiting to play Brixton Academy, someone give us a call!

If I could play with one band it would be…
Rob: Aerosmith.
Nathan: Either AC/DC, Pearl Jam or The Black Crowes.

If I could play with any person living or dead it would be…
Rob: Kurt Cobain.
Nathan: Jimi Hendrix.

If I could bring back any band that have split up, it would be…
Nathan: The original Guns N Roses lineup or The Smiths.

If I wasn’t playing music, I would be…
Rob: Bored.
Nathan: Straight bored!

If I could play a different genre it would be…
Rob: I’d give being a Superstar Dance DJ a good go, like Calvin Harris. It seems pretty easy to me.
Nathan: R & B.

If I could have written any song it would be…
Rob: This is a hard one. ‘Crazy’ by Aerosmith. I love that song so much.

If I could have written any album it would be…
Rob: Coldplay – ‘Parachutes.’ What a début album. I would be proud if I wrote that.
Nathan: Deftones – White Pony.

If I could headline any festival, it would be…
Rob: Glastonbury or Reading.
Nathan: Reading.

If I could organise my own festival, the bands playing would be…
Rob: Aerosmith, Green day, Blur, Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Manic Street Preachers, Stereophonics, You Me at Six, Paramore ,Young Guns, Kids in Glass Houses, Twin Atlantic, Gallows, Forever the sickest kids, Don Broco, All Time Low and not forgetting My little Empire!
Nathan: Bands only from the 90’s.

If I could play any other instrument, it would be…
Rob: I know a few chords on piano but I’d love to master that.

If I could give one piece of advice to a new band, it would be…
Rob: Always stay true to yourself and the music you want to do make, don’t be easily lead and follow the trends. Practice Hard and Party Hard!
Nathan: Rehearse and gig as much as possible and try to make it happen at a young age. The older you get, the harder it becomes.
