Following on from their recent UK tour, their recent Already Heard Session and the forthcoming Uk release of their self-titled album, Matt Uychich of New Jersey duo The Front Bottoms recently took part in our regular “If I…” feature.
Uychich told us what song he would re-record, which classic album he wish had written, what other genre The Front Bottoms would be playing if he had the chance and more.
If I could re-record one song it would be…
Matt: I think we would re-record’ 12 Feet Deep.’
If I could re-live one tour/show it would be…
Matt: touring with KDGDB. We love that band, and we will re-live that.
If I had the chance to play one venue it would be…
Matt: The Meat Locker (underground venue in Montclair, New Jersey.) That would be a ton of fun.
If I could play with one band it would be…
Matt: Bright Eyes.
If I could play with any person living or dead it would be…
Matt: Jack Black, just for the good time.
If I could bring back any band that have split up, it would be…
Matt: The Matches.
If I wasn’t playing music, I would be…
Matt: I really don’t know. Wouldn’t like to think about that.
If I could play a different genre it would be…
Matt: If The Front Bottoms could switch to a different genre it would be R&B.
If I could have written any song it would be…
Matt: We would put out ‘Ignition (Remix)’ by R Kelly.
If I could have written any album it would be…
Matt: Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller.’
If I could headline any festival, it would be…
Matt: We don’t have a particular answer, so I suppose Coachella.
If I could organise my own festival…
Matt: It would probably end up being a very strange mix of genres. And most of our favorite bands since we had control of organizing the lineup.
If I could play any other instrument, it would be…
Matt: One of us would play the harp, the other one would play the trombone.
If I could give one piece of advice to a new band, it would be:
Matt: I think learning from your mistakes is the best, but do your own thing, and stick with it through a lot.
