Brighton punk quartet Fighting Fiction are to split up and will play their final show at Sticky Mikes Frog Bar in Brighton on March 15th.
The band released the following statement:
“Rock n roll is dead and we are too.
We are truly sad to announce we’ve decided not to be a band anymore. We’re all still mates who can look back across the last seven years and be pretty damn proud and humbled thanks to the many people we have met who we are now privileged to call our friends. We did some cool stuff too; saw a bit of the world, made a few records, got played on the radio, played some awesome festivals and supported some of our favourite bands.
So our last show will be Saturday March 15 which is Fresh Punk in Brighton at Sticky Mikes Frog bar. Please come on down and let’s make it a memorable one. We’ll miss doing this stuff but for us at least it’s time.
There are too many people to thank in a post that have been a part of this bands history but we have to shout out a few.
Our families, girlfriends and friends for their incredible support and love.
Matthew Wood our friend first, manager second.
Mark Williams our friend and constant valued collaborator.
The Xtra Mile crew, Charlie, Anthea, Dani and Griff for their belief, help, friendship and nurture.
And you if you put on a show, filled in on the drums, helped us record, gave us a floor to sleep on, cooked us a meal, bought a shirt, had a conversation with us on tour, played our song on your university radio show, gave us more time off work than you should have, wrote us telling us you identified with what we were trying to say, shared out your gear or bought us a beer. You’ve been an inspiration and a crutch, a source of overwhelming joy and camaraderie. We’re sad but ready to finish up what we started as fresh faced teens with no idea. It’s only punk rock right?
See you in the pit on the 15th! – FF”
