Up-and-coming New Jersey emo rockers Flycatcher have released a new track titled ‘Brother’. It sees the quartet deliver a relatable message of admiration for a sibling. Guitarist Gregory Pease’s vocals are vulnerable yet resonate with appreciation for someone he looks up to, his older brother.
“‘Brother’ was inspired by the dynamic I have with my older brother and how even in adulthood I find myself aspiring to be more like him,” Flycatcher‘s frontman shared. “He’s extremely smart and resourceful, and he always achieves the things I could never see myself doing. I know everybody has relationships like this in their life—whether it be a sibling, family member, or just a friend—and it felt really nice to explore something that most of us take for granted. We all have difficulty expressing our appreciation for others at times, so this is an effort to do that simply and honestly.”
The poignant track sees Flycatcher, completed by Justin VanNiekerk (guitar), Jack Delle Cava (bass), and Connor Carmelengo (drums), work with acclaimed producer Will Yip (Turnstile, Movements, The Menzingers).
Since forming in 2017, Flycatcher have been honing their emotive brand of indie rock through various singles and EPs. Last year’s ‘Stunt’ EP highlighted their ability to pair gut-punching songwriting with anthemic melodies. This past July saw them release an acoustic reworking of the same EP.
