After plenty of rumours, US stadium rock giants Foo Fighters confirmed tonight they would be headlining the world famous Glastonbury Festival in June.

The news was announced as the band accepted an award at tonight’s NME Awards:

“Sorry we couldn’t make it tonight, but we will be seeing you over the summer at some big outdoor festival that nobody knows we’re playing,” joked frontman Dave Grohl in a video. “It’s Glastonbury! So we’ll see you at Glastonbury – thanks a lot everybody!”

Their performance will be their first time headlining the festival and their first appearance since 1998. They will be the Friday night headliners.
