This past November, “folk horror” quintet Forlorn joined Church Road Records. Today, the Southern UK band has shared details of their debut album. It’s called ‘Aether’ and will be released on March 28th.
Over five years, Forlorn has embraced expressionist art, crushing soundscapes and paganism into their brand of progressive metal. On ‘Aether’, the quintet will pay tribute to the ‘elements’ to create a dense, fierce and sonically stunning sound.
As a preview, Forlorn have debuted a track called ‘Funeral Pyre’. Led by Megan Jenkins’ versatile vocals, the track highlights the band’s fiery and heavy sound. Alongside the production work of Sam Bloor (Graphic Nature, Black Coast, Dream State), Forlorn continue to be a promising and unique collective.
Commenting on the track, Forlorn shared “’Funeral Pyre’ explores the element of fire and in this sense as a powerful divination tool. We took inspiration from the 1973 film ‘The Wickerman’ and the concept of human sacrifice, in order for things to grow. We invite people to join us as we shed our naysayers and become stronger together.”
In addition to ‘Funeral Pyre’, ‘Aether’ will feature previous singles, ‘Spirit’ and ‘Creatress’.
