Emerging UK quintet Forlorn are gearing up to release their debut album, ‘Aether’, next month. Ahead of its March 28th release via Church Road Records, the “folk horror” group have shared another track from the record.
With their past single, ’Funeral Pyre’ exploring the element of fire, ‘Keeper of the Well’ sees them turn their attention to water.
Musically it captures Forlorn at their most cinematic. Its atmospheric post-metal foundation combines with Megan Jenkins’ harmonious vocals to create a wide soundscape that gives way to sharp, metallic guitars and a pagan choir. Of the four singles released from ‘Aether’ so far, ‘Keeper of the Well’ is the most impressive. Its dark grandeur creates a compelling sound to Forlorn‘s expansive, progressive style.
Jenkins also commented on the element of water, “Water is a vital part of human existence. With the power to heal, renew and nourish, yet we curse ourselves and the creatures within by not respecting it. We must do more to honour and care for our sacred wells, rivers, lakes and oceans.”
An ‘Aether’ album release show Black Heart in London will take place on March 28th. Support comes from Swarmed and Healing Wound. Tickets can be purchased here.
