Nottingham emo folk punk group George Gadd + the Aftermath have shared a track called ‘Last Orders’. It is the first part of an upcoming AA single, due for release in early 2024.
With influences including Joyce Manor, The Get Up Kids and Los Campesinos!, ‘Last Orders’ captures George Gadd + the Aftermath‘s infectious heart-on-sleeve singalong style, and combines it with an energetic tempo and a rich guitar melody.
“‘Last Orders’ takes a long, hard look in the mirror with a chorus which screams “it’s not selfish to wanna get better”. The song’s lyrical themes of redemption, reflection and healing take the forefront over a backdrop of bratty distorted guitars and aggressive drums,” explains George Gadd.
The second half of the double A-Side single, ‘CVG,’ will be released in the new year. Both tracks see the quartet hone in on an eclectic sound, with mixing and engineering assistance from Phil Booth (JT Soar) and Rich Collins (Snug Recording).
‘Last Orders’ / ‘CVG’ will precede George Gadd + the Aftermath‘s debut full-length, which is due to be recorded in February 2024.
Having previously been part of the defunct emo/post-hardcore group Little Bribes, George Gadd has carved out a reputation as a rising DIY singer-songwriter with a unique sense of humour. Gadd has played shows supporting the likes of Charlie Simpson, Kevin Devine, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. and The Xcerts, Gadd has expanded the project to a full band, with The Aftermath consisting of Ciaran Grant (guitar/synth/backing vocals), Dan Hess (bass) and Xak James (drums).
