Emerging Minneapolis quartet Gully Boys have confirmed they will be releasing their debut album this Autumn. The self-titled effort will be released on October 3rd via Smartpunk Records.
With influences and comparisons to Mannequin Pussy, Turnstile, Deep Sea Diver, and Paramore, ‘Gully Boys’ promises to be the most direct and confident version of the four-piece. Its 10 tracks see Gully Boys explore the recklessness of your early 20s, later-day wisdom, and protecting what matters to them; friends, their hometown, and identity.
Their new single, ‘Mother,’ highlights the quartet’s confident swagger. Bubbling with a fuzz-laden, groovy guitar and confrontational lyrics, it showcases an intense side to Gully Boys‘ sound.
As a unit, vocalist/guitarist Kathy Callahan (she/her), drummer Nadirah McGill (they/them), bassist Natalie Klemond (she/her), and guitarist Mariah Mercedes (they/them) have already shown plenty of versatility. Alongside ‘Mother.’ their self-titled album will also include past singles ‘Love Me 2’ and ‘Bad Day. ‘
The former, released this past February, is a sharp, rampant blast of melodic rock. ‘Bad Day’ rides on a new wave bassline before erupting with a radiant chorus.
