Emerging Hertfordshire melodic alt-rock trio High Regard are preparing to release their second EP, ‘Subside’, on October 26th. Having previously shared ‘Dead To Me’ last month, they’ve treated us to another taste with ‘Life Sentence’.
Driven by Georgia Casey’s energetic and raw vocals and Tom Townsend’s irresistible guitar riff, it sees the three-piece deliver an urgent and sturdy slice of alt-rock. You can hear the track below.
As for the aforementioned ‘Subside’ EP, High Regard has promised it’ll deliver an abundance of bold choruses, elevating riffs, and infectious grooves. However, the follow-up to last year’s debut, ‘Peace of Mind’, is also threaded together by a lyrical narrative.
“The ‘Subside’ EP is a deep dive into my mind in the aftermath of a failed relationship,” explains High Regard vocalist Georgia Casey. “We wanted to establish a narrative both lyrically and musically to explore the immediate mental impact a break-up can have on you. We tried to keep a positive light on all the songs, as we go through hardships during life but things are always bound to get better.”
‘Life Sentence’ by High Regard Lyrics
I’ve got a life sentence for my sins
Locked up I’m feeling things
Time that it takes me
Away
So when I break through
I’ll make sure to reach you
It’s in my blood
It’s in my blood
And is it time
To play a game
Of ace and faces?
When I play two
You play four
I think you’re sick of the score
Can we just work it out?
What do we have left to fight about?
I’ve got a life sentence for my sins
Locked up I’m feeling things
Time that it takes me
Away
So when I break through
I’ll make sure to reach you
It’s in my blood
It’s in my blood
I’ve got a life sentence for my sins
Locked up I’m feeling things
Time that it takes me
Away
So when I break through
I’ll make sure to reach you
It’s in my blood
It’s in my blood
If I can get there
I’ll lay it all bare
I’m not better off alone
Cause I can’t stay here
Living without fear
It’s like a king without a throne
No you can’t take this from me
No you can’t take this all
It’s in my blood
It’s in my blood
